The New York Public Library gives Dan its Helen Bernstein Book Award for Excellence in Journalism, calling Toms River “powerful, in-depth reporting that informs the public, shapes policy, and changes the world.” The ceremony was also broadcast on C-SPAN’s Book TV.

Toms River has been named a finalist for the New York Public Library’s Helen Bernstein Award for Excellence in Journalism, awarded to “journalists whose books have brought clarity and public attention to important issues, events, or policies.” The winner will be announced this summer.
